June 22nd, David returns to guest with the George Mesterhazy Trio at The Merion Inn, Cape May
June 8th, Brooklyn at Marine Park - 17 piece band- featured vocalist Kevin Burke - performance for Brooklyn Arts Council
May 27th, Brooklyn at Gargiulo’s - 10 piece band- featured vocalist Jennifer O’Rourke
March 18th, David guests with the George Mesterhazy Trio at The Merion Inn, Cape May - this is the season opener for 2010

***April 29, Zinc Bar NYC, West 3rd Street (bet. Sullivan & Thompson) The David ORourkestra will make it’s NYC premiere. This ensemble will feature David’s arrangements for big band and represents his first appearance in a NYC club as a leader in a number of years. There will be 3 sets beginning at 9:30 pm - earlier the club will feature some of the finest stand up comedy in the city.***

April TBA A big band augmented by strings, french horns & vocalists will perform in a special Jersey Shore event.

Tues, March 23rd David will perform at a special gala performance for Brooklyn Arts Council at the Bell House where he will be joined by Jeremy Pelt (trumpet), George Mesterhazy & Fintan O’Neill (keyboards), Alex Hernandez TBC (bass) & Jonathan Mele (drums). Also performing that night will be some of the members of JSYO paying a special tribute to Randy Weston who is being honored by BAC that night. David will once again appear once a month at the jazz night at Merion Inn, Cape May with pianist George Mesterhazy’s Trio.

2009
November 13th & 14th - David was Music Director for a pair of sold out performances of Nelson Riddle’s arrangements at McLoone’s Supper Club, Asbury Park, NJ.

May 27th, 6 - 10pm, David will perform in a 10 piece ensemble led by Fintan O’Neill, featuring Abraham Burton (saxes), Duane “Cook” Broadnax (drums) among others - watch this space for venue details.

May 31st, David conducted some more arrangements from the “Charlie Parker with Strings” sessions with Steve Wilson as soloist - this time with the boys and girls of the JSYO who were joined by the Sirius String Quartet as the core of the string section with added string players.

June 9th 1-3pm Fintan O’Neill leads a Big Band (17 pieces) with David playing guitar, Kevin Burke (vocalist) - Marine Park Brooklyn 1-3pm.

April 27-29 2009, Steve Wilson was artist-in-residence at SUNY, New Paltz, in upstate New York. David was invited by Steve to arrange and conduct the strings as well as play guitar on the final concert. David also taught a special “String Writing in Jazz and American Music” class while Steve and he coached some of the college ensembles. Bassist for the final concert was Ira Coleman. In addition to discussing some of the “Charlie Parker With Strings” arrangements David presented some analyses of the work of arrangers such as Nelson Riddle, Robert Farnon, Ralph Carmichael and more...

Steve performed some of the Bird With Strings arrangements in the concert.

Every Sunday 2-3pm, David directs the JSYO (Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra) at Jazz Standard in New York City.

April 15th, between 2 and 4pm David will be interviewed live on NYC Talk Radio about his work with the JSYO.

RECENT EVENTS

David performed with JSYO at a special fundraiser for Street Kids International at Astor Wines. (March 11th).
David was interviewed by MNN Cable Channel show “Let ‘em talk” about the JSYO.
